Another milestone
here i am awake at 4 plus in the morning, not because i couldn't sleep but rather because i had too much sleep already!! was way too tired after yesterday's table tennis competition so i slept all the way from 5 something till around 3am. skipped dinner haha
anyway, the results yesterday was very good, that both my teams got 1st and 3rd placing. Double happiness but honestly the feeling was more of a great relief rather than being overjoyed with the results.
why is that so? well so many things have happened or rather screwed up along the way, not only in handling my team but also when i was part of the organizing committee too. for so many years that i've been holding the position of a captain for so many teams before in uni and also as a coach, this time round was a truly new and challenging experience:
1. to handle 2 teams of 9 each
2. unfamiliar people with work and personal commitments
3. all from 8 different companies
4. located all over singapore
5. to find a common and convenient training location for all
6. to make the best lineup for both teams
7. handling people who were unhappy
8. last minute unfortunate events that made some players unable to turn up
9. an organising committee that none of them had any knowledge of table tennis
10. this list could go on...
i also played the most exciting and entertaining game as the final match for the whole event although me and my doubles partner lost in a very close 3-4 fight. even though my team has already won by that time but it was with good spirit that both our opponents and us played with our best effort in a final match that no longer have any impact on the overall result.
the journey had definitely been real tough and draining both physically and mentally but i'm just SO GLAD that it was all worth the effort that i've put into it when all things came to an end yesterday. of cos all the effort is not by me but also thanks to all those who've been with me together to make this all happen :)
all in all, this will be another memorable milestone in my life and coupled with more lessons learnt especially in dealing with others. so now will just be one last thing before we can finally put a close to it:- it's time for CELEBRATION!!
